Dapple

I am always on the look out for new “green” cleaning products to use around the house. I’ve been reading more and more about parabens and their link to cancer and am alarmed to find it in so many products we use regularly (soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc). In general, mainstream brands are so over-the-top strong and full of chemicals that I don’t think are good for the health of me, my family, or the environment. So when I saw that Dapple created a comprehensive line of cleaning products with baby and the environment in mind, I was more than happy to give them all a shot!

I use the dish soap and dishwasher soap daily. I like that the Dapple baby bottle and dish liquid has no scent and that it doesn’t over lather. It still does a great job cleaning all the bottles and kids plates that we wash. I reserve the “harsh” dish soap for pots and pans (and rubber gloves). The automatic dishwasher gel works just as effectively as any other brand I’ve used, but it has the added bonus of being toxic-free.

The toy and surface cleaner is conveniently offered in travel wipes. The wipes are always with me in the diaper bag. They come in handy when I need to wipe down a shopping cart or restaurant high chair. I’ve been using the cleaner like crazy these days with all the colds and stomach viruses going around. And I can rest assured that I’m not wiping down things my baby touches with harsh and dangerous chemicals that get onto her hands and in her mouth.

The pacifier wipes also stay in the diaper bag. While my baby doesn’t use a pacifier, I use the wipes regularly to wipe her hands when we our out at the park and its snack time.  Now that she is transitioning from crawling to walking, her hands are everywhere from the ground up, so its comforting to know there is a food-grade wipe out there!

The laundry detergent is a great alternative to Dreft. It’s mild and again, fragrance free, which is what I prefer. I try to spot treat my daughter and son’s clothes so everything comes out perfectly clean. I wish Dapple made a stain remover spray to spot treat the clothes with ease. Babies and toddlers are notorious for food stains!

All in all, I am impressed with the Dapple line. It’s not the most powerful cleaner but  that is definitely not what I’m looking for when I use cleaning products around my children. My priorities are effective, safe and gentle and Dapple delivers on all 3 priorities!
