Five surprising things you can still do during pregnancy.
While vacationing last summer with a friend who was seven months pregnant, I took a dip in the cool lake near our rented cabin. She refused to join me, afraid that swimming in the chilly water would “shock” her baby. Myths like this abound during pregnancy, and although it’s true that you should be careful, there’s no need to stop living.
As a veteran mommy armed with a well-worn copy of What to Expect When You’re Expecting, I assured my friend that a refreshing swim was no
problem, and she waded in to relish that feeling of weightlessness— at
no risk to her now very healthy newborn. Following are a few more
things you can do in a normal pregnancy, with a caveat or two. Just be

concerned about.

I realized that I needed to learn more about my diet in order to eat
well for both of us. With help from nutrition experts and a little
perseverance, I quickly learned to eat more healthfully while
maintaining my meat-free diet. And the truth is, all
vegetarians—whether you’re already one or you’ve had an aversion to
eating meat since you became pregnant—can safely skip meat during
pregnancy. |
