Dr. de Freitas completed her pediatric residency training at the University of Washington, Seattle, in 1984. She had been in private practice in Ann Arbor, MI for 11 years before moving to San Diego. Prior to opening her own private practice, Dr. de Freitas worked for North County Health Services. She is board certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She presently has a private practice in San Diego, California.
She is the Founder and CEO of Healthy Chats, a health education seminar based company for mothers and daughters ages 9-11. They provide in home seminar for mothers and their daughter to help review age appropriate information regarding puberty, birth and conception. These fun, educational afternoons are memorable for both mothers and daughters. In 2008, Dr. de Freitas produced My First Period Kit & DVD, to help parents review the information regarding puberty for girls at home.
In Jan. 2016, Dr. de Freitas released her first children’s picture book Jake’s Kindergarten Checkup. A story inspired on a true office experience of siblings coming in for their checkups. The book also includes Tips for Parents.
Dr. de Freitas lives in Carmel Valley with her husband Dr. Bonadio, a perinatal pathologist. She has three adult children whom fill her life with joy! In her free time she weaves, is an avid Zumba dancer, enjoys yoga/mindfulness, and most recently tennis.
