Kiran Saluja is the Executive Director at the PHFEWIC program, the largest local WIC agency in the country, serving approximately 4% of the nation’s total and 23% of California’s WIC recipients. Kiran has worked with WIC since 1984. She is a passionate supporter of breastfeeding and has participated in breastfeeding coalition, task forces and special committees at the local, state and federal levels. Kiran has been speaking about WIC, Breastfeeding and Nutrition Education at national conferences for the last 25 years. Kiran was on the board of the NWA for 4 years as Secretary from 2002 to 2006.
In February 2010, Kiran represented the National WIC Association testifying on WIC and Breastfeeding before the House Education and Labor Committee reauthorizing WIC and Child Nutrition Programs. She was invited to present information on updating the USDA WIC Breastfeeding Social Marketing campaign at the Institute of Medicine in April 2011.
Kiran served as the Board Chair of the National WIC Association in 2012. She is the proud grandmother of one year old twin girls, both still breastfeeding.
