“I’ve got two people on my mind: her and the baby,” said DioGuardi of her surrogate, who is a close friend of the couple. “She’s given us this incredible gift.”

According to DioGuardi’s father, a former GOP congressman from Ossining, New York, the baby is expected to arrive in February.

DioGuardi is an accomplished songwriter who has worked with artists such as Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, Gwen Stefani and Celine Dion. She also appeared in 2011 in the Broadway production of “Chicago.”
