About a month ago, our one-year old started pulling himself up to standing and “cruising” along our sofa and other pieces of low furniture. He also wanted to have us hold his hands to practice walking all the time. In order to save our backs and give him more prolonged amounts of walking time, we decided to try the Vtech Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker.
No sooner than we had assembled the walker, which only took about 10 minutes, my son was playing with the toy’s interactive face. The interactive toy has an educational mode and a musical mode, has lights that flash, spinning cogs, piano keys, shapes, a barnyard book and our favorite, a purple telephone that he loves making phone calls with. Like most activity center toys, the shapes, colors, animals, songs etc. make it really easy to interact with your child.
The walker itself has also been a ton of fun for our little guy but for a beginning walker, the wheels move pretty quickly on a slick surface. On our hardwood floor, our son is leaning forward and practically running to keep up with the toy. On carpet, however, he does great. He has yet to topple over the walker, so in that sense, it is doing its’ job. He definitely seems to enjoy the walker, playing with it multiple times day, both sitting to play with the activity center and pushing the walker around in a walking position. And though I don’t know if I should attribute it to the walker, but just yesterday, he went from taking one step to taking a full 10 steps! Hooray!
