Forget car washes and bake sales. When it came time for Beyonce to fundraise for her daughter’s school, this mom took to the stage with a surprise set that wowed attendees.

The gala, held in support of the Center for Early Education, took over the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, the former home of the Academy Awards. Billy Crystal and Will Ferrel hosted the event, adding another layer of star quality to the evening. Performing hits from Crazy in Love alongside crowd favorites such as Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You, Beyonce proved that there’s more than one way to show up for your kids.
