Peaches Geldof welcomes second son, Phaedra

by Pregnancy Contributor Leave a Comment

Long before she stole headlines as one of the U.K.'s most audacious socialites, celebutante Peaches Geldof was well-known for her distinctive moniker, which she received from famed parents Sir Bob Geldof, of the Boomtown Rats, and model Paula Yates.

Now, the 24-year-old is keeping the family tradition alive. Last year, she welcomed her first child, son Astala, with husband Thomas Cohen. On April 24, Geldof's second son, a boy she named Phaedra, was delivered via Cesarean section.

"My new little man is so sweet, he loves being swaddled so much and looks so happy like a tiny burrito baby wrapped up in it!" Geldof wrote on Twitter for the first time since bringing home baby Phaedra.

The date of Phaedra's birth has special significance for Geldof, as it was also her mother's birthday. Yates passed away in 2000 when Peaches was 11.

In 2012, Geldof married Cohen in the same Kent church where her parents were married in 1986.

When asked about the inspiration for her baby's unique name, Peaches explained that it is in honor of her favorite band, Tangerine Dream, and their 1974 album "Phaedra." The name is also related to Greek mythology.
