Pregnancy Magazine Group Debuts Digital Editions

Maternity Market Expert and Trusted Source of Information for New and Expectant Moms Now Available Exclusively in Digital Edition

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.—February 29, 2012 —Pregnancy Magazine Group today unveiled the digital version of Pregnancy Magazine, a leading monthly magazine for new and expectant moms. The new Pregnancy Magazine delivers compelling content, features and advice to moms who want access to information in a way that meshes with their digital lifestyle. In 2012, Pregnancy Magazine will launch six editions exclusively in digital format—each focusing on a specific, high-interest topic for pregnant and new moms. The editions offer the look and feel of a print magazine, but focus on specific categories of information rather than monthly, calendar-themed issues.

“There is a tremendous opportunity to give today’s “millennial mom” the content and information they want in a way that fits their mobile, on-the-go lifestyle,” said Kendra Smith, Editor in Chief of Pregnancy Magazine. “Rather than deliver content that expires monthly with each issue, we’ve created topical editions that cover the subject areas around different stages of pregnancy and early childhood that will be relevant to new and expecting moms year-round. The new digital format enables moms to get the resources and features they want, wherever they are, on the devices they use most—whether that’s a smart phone, computer, tablet, Kindle or iPad.”

Pregnancy Magazine’s new topic-focused format will feature six categories of information, beginning with “Health and Wellness.” Every two months throughout the year, the magazine will launch additional issues highlighting different subject matter relevant to new and expectant moms, including: “The Big Day,” “Feeding your Baby,” “Your Baby’s Sleep,” “The Nursery and Nesting,” “Baby Health and Wellness,” and more. Each issue is designed to deliver information and features in the way moms want this information today—in a format that is interactive, uses rich media and allows them to quickly share their interests through social media like Facebook and Twitter.

Pregnancy Magazine is available for $2.99 per issue or $14.99 for the year (six issues) through a mobile app for the iPhone®/iPod touch®/iPad® and Android devices as well as on the Kindle Fire. The app can be downloaded now from the appropriate online app stores for each device:

Reach an Influential, Engaged Audience of Moms and Mobile Users
Pregnancy Magazine provides advertisers with a dynamic platform to reach an influential targeted audience with massive spending power. According to BMS Media Group, moms are actively online seeking information and spending money on the Internet. 71 percent of mothers said they were very likely to use the Internet for product information, advice or general information, and BMS Media estimates that mothers control $2.1 trillion in annual household spending.
The usage of tablets and mobile applications is also growing. According to a January 2012 report from Pew Internet, 29 percent of Americans now own a tablet or e-reader, up from 18 percent pre-holidays. A study done by BPA and Texterity on magazine app users shows significant audience engagement: Almost half of the respondents spend 20 minutes or more in their magazine app and typically visit their app 5x per month. The study also found that 40 percent of magazine app readers make a purchase as a result of in-app advertising—online, in person, by mail.
With the magazine’s new digital format, advertisers can easily engage new and expectant moms with their brands, products and services through interactive, rich media advertising that is both relevant and appealing to this audience. At launch, advertising partners receive a 2:1 editorial to ad ratio in the digital magazine—as well as guaranteed category exclusivity in the first two issues. Ad space is purchased for a year-long period with the flexibility to swap out ad campaigns throughout the year to feature specific products, promotions or seasonal offers. Baby K’tan, Cybex Aton, Easter Seals, LifeFactory, Mamadoc, March of Dimes, Matriarch Maternity, Medela, Modern Twist, Lifefactory, Bratt Décor, Regal & Lager, Pediped, Smarty Pants and Sunsweet are among the advertisers participating in the first “Health and Wellness” issue available today.
