4 reasons why spring pregnancies are the best

by Emme Lukasik Leave a Comment

Now that the world outside our windows is finally blooming and turning green, there’s no better time to be an expectant mom. If you and your partner just got your first positive pregnancy test, you’ll be pleased to know there are a number of reasons to enjoy pregnancy in the springtime. Here are just a few:

Fresh food

During spring and summer, groceries and farmers markets are brimming with juicy fruits, dark, leafy greens and more fresh produce than you could ever hope to consume. The fresher the food, the more nutrients your body will reap from it – and pass on to your little one. Eat up on all the good stuff this time of year when baby’s vital organs are developing.

Forget the winter coat

There’s nothing quite as irritating as finding you can’t close your much-needed winter coat around your growing bump. Lucky for you, you won’t need to worry about purchasing a pricey maternity coat – or letting your pre-baby jacket flap in the chilly breeze. You can forget the extra layers too. Pregnancy hormones can wreak havoc on your body’s ability to regulate its temperature. But forgoing the year’s coldest months can save you a lot of hassle and trouble when it comes to how you dress your changing body.

The great outdoors

After spending a long, cold winter cooped up indoors, there’s nothing quite as rejuvenating as stepping out into the warm sunshine. Relieve stress by strolling through your neighborhood and taking in some fresh air. A bonus? Blue skies and blooming flowers can help boost your happiness too.

Dodge the flu

What could be worse than battling the flu during pregnancy when you already feel out of sorts? Honestly, not much. But thanks to your expert timing, you won’t have to worry about flu season when this pesky bug is at its peak.

Did you just find out you’re pregnant? What are you most looking forward to this time of year? Tell us all about it in the comments below.
